Catching Hong Kong’s Airport Train

In Hong Kong time is money and Hong Kong’s airport train is fast, clean, super-efficient and straightforward!

The Hong Kong Airport Express has been running for more than 10 years between Hong Kong Airport and Hong Kong Island, and they are very frequent.  You step off the arrivals concourse directly onto the platform.  All signs and announcements are in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, so you really can’t go wrong.

Buy a return ticket at Hong Kong Airport before you get on (unless you plan to stay of course!)  You’ll be whisked into the city in just over 20 minutes.  The train stops in the tourist district of Kowloon before reaching the terminus on Hong Kong Island.

Once you step off the train at Kowloon and Hong Kong stations you walk less than 50 metres to a taxi rank where you wait inside in air conditioned comfort.  The taxi will efficiently whisk you from your station right to the door of your desired destination!  Regular travellers who are in the know tend to head for the taxi queue at the far-end (Taxi Queue 4) as it tends to move faster.

When you’re heading home again, travel back to either station by taxi and use the In-town check-in, so you can check in for your flight and deposit your luggage before boarding the train.  Once you step off the train you can walk straight through customs and on to your flight, bypassing the airport check-in queues.
