Clockeflap Presents x Collective Minds is delighted to announce that NY-based singer, producer and DJ – Yaeji – will make her Hong Kong debut with us at TTN on July 23. Yaeji’s music is an invitation into an intimate, healing, world exploring cultural identity and self-reflection through dreamlike house productions that morph from whispery confessionals to dancefloor burners, and makes quite simply for a party unlike no other.
Born in Queens, NY to South Korean parents, Yaeji repatriated to Seoul shortly after, where she spent her formative years attending school, learning Korean and English side-by-side. Yaeji returned to America to study at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and made a home for herself at the college radio station, where she was introduced to the local underground electronic music community and seminal club nights like Hot Mass, all formative experiences leading to her fascination with dance music production. With her fully-fledged music obsession in tow, Yaeji moved back to her birth city after graduation and began cultivating her own community of artists and DJs in Brooklyn’s local dance scene while recording music of her own. Yaeji’s first musical offering, her self-titled Yaeji EP, found the producer merging her club influences with songwriting and hazy raps flitting between Korean and English. Her follow up EP2, featuring singles “Drink I’m Sippin On” and “Raingurl” along with 2018’s “One More” have accelerated Yaeji’s presence in the global spectrum as a singular and leading voice in dance, hip-hop and avant-pop music.read more

YourMum is delighted to announce that Mndsgn (pronounced Mind Design) will make his local Hong Kong debut on March 21 at Eaton Hong Kong.
Born Ringgo Ancheta, the American hip hop producer of Philippino descent grew up in south New Jersey, raised with Gospel music at church, B-Boy culture, and his older sisters’ favorite 90s R&B artists. Experimenting with beatmaking in his teen years, he befriended fellow Stones Throw labelmate Knxwledge and the two formed the influential Klipmode collective. Mndsgn’s music flourished when he moved to Los Angeles, quickly catching the attention of Low End Theory as well as Stones Throw, who released ‘Yawn Zen’ in 2014 – a LP of complex, introspective beat creations punctuated by intriguing vocal cuts. Mndsgn then toured the globe, cofound Akashik Records & Tapes, and provided the beat for “Sweeny Song”, a high-profile collaboration with underground rap superstar Danny Brown. Mndsgn followed up with his sophomore LP ‘Body Wash’ in 2016 which was proclaimed one of the best electronic albums of the year by Pitchfork media. In 2018, he released ‘Snax’ – a new mix-tape album, as well as producing legendary funk artist Prophet’s ‘Wanna Be Your Man’.read more
Migs emerged from the 90’s deep house underground scene to become the kind of artist who transcends the stylistic limitations of a genre so very few can. His musical journey began after picking up a guitar in his early teenage years and his first outlet was writing songs and playing in Dub/Reggae bands. Although Migs always loved and listened to all different styles of music, in the early 90’s he connected to the soulful sounds of Deep House. By the mid ’90s he began experimenting with producing electronic dance music. And by the time the new millennium dawned, a string of releases and remixes on numerous leading indie dance labels earned him an enviable reputation among discerning dance music fans worldwide. In 2004, Miguel Migs started his own record label, Salted Music. No stranger to independent and major labels, the founding of Salted Music was a more personal venture.read more

LA Comedy Live is thrilled to announce that Five-time Grammy and Emmy nominated comedian Margaret Cho will bring her brand new show, ‘Fresh Off The Bloat’ to Hong Kong on May 13, 2018 at Kitec Rotunda 3.
“Fresh Off The Bloat” is certainly Margaret Cho’s sickest stand-up comedy show to date. A pioneer amongst women in comedy, Margaret doesn’t take anything for granted as she continues to tackle difficult subjects with sensitivity and her razor sharp insight with her takes on addiction, abuse, activism and Asianness. It’s all about the politics of disgust and what is disgusting about politics. Aptly titled, “Fresh Off The Bloat,” Margaret says, ““Fresh Off The Bloat” is my sickest show to date. My grandmother said “You look like bloated as if you’ve been found dead in a lake after several days of searching.” Koreans are the most savage of all the Asians. My new show is all about being fresh off drugs and drinking and suicide and coming back to life – finally fished out of the river Styx. It’s meta. It’s magical. It’s me.” read more
