YourMum presents: The Notwist, live in Hong Kong

.

For fans of: The Postal Service, Yo La Tengo, Efterklang, Caribou

YourMum is thrilled to announce that German indie group, The Notwist, will be making their local debut with us on April 19th at TTN.

Formed in Munich in 1989, The Notwist’s musical spectrum has spanned grunge-metal, indie rock and electronica. The theme throughout, their uncanny ability to craft a series of personal and impeccable records that warmly thread together the far corners of independent music. It’s part majestic, cinematic pop, part kraut-infused jazz and impossible to tie down to just one movement. Across a career which has spanned nine albums, and nearly three decades, The Notwist charm has always been to create music ripe with authenticity and mood, which sounds at once romantic and melancholic. Story telling songs which feel both intimately personal as well as broadly accessible. Soundtracks for the movie going on inside you, which we all can relate. Just listen to “Consequence’ from the 2002 LP ‘Neon Golden’ and you’ll know what we mean.

Live, the group step up to a whole new experience, bringing their insatiably catchy music to their purest, joyful conclusion. Head music which translates to the heart. Come find out what makes these guys so special and what has maintained their status as one of the most credible ‘band’s band’ out there.

YourMum presents: Ride, live in Hong Kong

YourMum is delighted to announce that indie legends, Ride, will be returning to Hong Kong following their memorable closing set at Clockenflap in 2015, for their first ever headline show in the city at Macpherson Stadium on Feb 26th.

The quartet from Oxford of Mark Gardener, Andy Bell, Laurence Colbert and Steve Queralt formed in 1988 and first rose to fame as the widely regarded leading lights of the shoegaze scene. Characterised by walls of distorted guitar engulfing psychedelic noise pop, the sound has become a cult staple in the alternative world. With four albums released: ‘Nowhere’, ‘Going Blank Again’, ‘Carnival Of Light’ and ‘Tarantula’, the group broke up in 1996 where the members went on to various other projects, most notably Andy Bell who played with Oasis.

In 2015, the alternative world rejoiced with the band’s reunion announced with a slew of high profile global dates (including Clockenflap), followed up with a new album released in June of this year called ‘Weather Diaries’ to widespread critical and fan approval.

Ride are back and sounding better than ever. Don’t miss the opportunity to catch this vital band play in such an ideal setting at Macpherson Stadium.

Tickets priced $560 (Standing) & $530 (Seating) go on sale on at 10am on the Dec 21st, and a special package promotion of $880 for two shows including The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart’s gig on Jan 24th is available to the first lucky 100 who scoop them.

YourMum presents: The Wedding Present

David Gedge’s quartet have quite rightly earned the ‘legendary’ status afforded to an elite few, by releasing what John Peel called: “Some of the best love songs of the rock n’ roll era.” Classic LPs like ‘George Best’, ‘Bizarro’, ‘Seamonsters’, and ‘Saturnalia’ let alone the 1992 release of 12 singles in one year equalling Elvis Presley’s 35-year old record.  An astonishing and essential band whose music remains as vital today as it ever did.  As ever, best experienced live!
